| Lisa Lansing is a former
dancer and choreographer who has enjoyed a life-long dedication
to and exploration of movement through dance, sports, movement arts,
therapy and choreography. While primarily a dancer in her youth,
Lisa's active family encouraged her to explore sports and other
forms of movement as well as dance. Lisa was a swimmer, diver, gymnast,
competitive figure skater, and sailor. She played soccer, softball,
and volleyball. As a dancer, she was a ballerina and studied tap,
jazz, modern, hip-hop, pop, funk, folk and improvisation.
After two debilitating dance injuries, one requiring reconstructive
ankle surgery and the other requiring two knee debridements, Lisa
began her life-long quest to discover efficient movement for health
and wellness. Losing the ability to dance was devastating, and finding
new ways of moving was paramount. While Pilates reached Lisa's sensibility
of alignment and proper body mechanics, the GYROTONIC®
methodology addressed all the systems of her body in a way that
continues to be deeply healing and powerful.
The GYROTONIC
EXPANSION SYSTEM® helped Lisa recover from the
physical and emotional trauma she suffered after the death of her
infant daughter due to a rare liver disease in 1999. This methodology
helps people change movement patterns, open energetic pathways that
are often blocked due to movement habits or emotional stagnation,
breathe and use breath with healing and regenerative intention,
and find greater circulation in the body.
Lisa's life work involves bringing greater love, healing and joy
to the world through movement, energetic awakening and breath. Movement
heals. Today Lisa is both a GYROTONIC®
and GYROKINESIS®
Master Trainer, as well as a Pilates Teacher Mentor and Trainer
for Core Dynamics Pilates.
