What is the diffence between a Workshop Session and a Quad?

Workshop Sessions
are held as a 5-consecutive-week-series for Level 1-2 students. Those classes advance each week and they are created for people who are beginning the work. Enrolling in a session is like taking a class at a university, you come or you don’t come, but you pay a certain amount and when the session is over, so is your package. We do not extend the 5 or 10 class package for more than 5 weeks.

Quads are ongoing appointments and have nothing to do with Sessions or time periods. Once a student advances enough to be in a Quad, the teacher designs classes for the students based on their needs, goals and abilities. Being in a quad is like having a private appointment, only your appointment is shared with 3 other people. When you purchase packages for Quads, they include (usually) 5 appointments and you have 8 weeks to use your package before it expires. This enables people to be absent, go on vacation, etc, without losing their unused classes.

Save your back, lift your tush, get stronger in your core. Learn how to integrate your body with your mind. Deep inner control with effortless intention. Ease and delight - this is Pilates!

Debbie Axelrod has just returned from another Training seminar where she spent time learning from one of the "elders." A Pilates "elder" is someone who today, is quite old, and back in the day, used to study with Joseph Pilates directly. They are also known because they have continued to practice and study Pilates all these years later. Debbie is so inspired and motivated and wants to share everything with her students!

Lisa Smith
Hometown: Mentor, Ohio
Sign: Gemini
Why Pilates: I feel it levels the playing field and there is something for everyone.
Favorite Exercise:Teaser. A challenging exercise that has many components, so it keeps it interesting. I also like that it can be done on the mat, and on virtually every piece of Pilates equipment.
Inspiration: My students. I love seeing students achieve their goals and learn to respect and enjoy Pilates as much as I do.
Teaching Style: Fun, energetic
First Pilates experience: Cleveland Heights Rec Center class

Lisa Lansing
Hometown – Seattle, Washington
Astrological Sign - Scorpio
Why Pilates - I used Pilates for rehab after knee surgery (dance injury) while living in Scotland. Pilates led me to Gyrotonic.
Favorite Pilates exercise & why – Feel-good Clock Arms – the most universal exercise that everyone needs and loves – plus, it’s an exercise that moves – not a static pose or hold, so the body really can feel change over time.
Who / what inspires you – I am inspired by Dance and by love. I am inspired by Juliu Horvath and Magali Messac. I am inspired by people who love to move, who love how movement feels, who aspire to move more and love more.
Describe your teaching style – fun and sill, yet picky with a wicked attention to detail
First Pilates experience - Edinburgh, Scoltand, 1997, with Brigid McCarthy. I took a private lesson and the next day flew to Crete for a week. I was sore and sat up pretty tall on the airplane; I remember – it hurt to slouch.

Karen McDonald
Hometown - Novato, CA
Sign - Capricorn
Why Pilates - Because it makes sense-- lengthen, then strengthen.
Favorite exercise and why - The Saw performed on the Cadillac, because it feels sooooo gooooooood!
Who/what inspires you - People who aren't afraid to follow their passions.
My teaching style -I strive to be thoughtful, flexible, supportive, hands-on, creative, motivating and always evolving as an instructor.
First Pilates Experience - A private lesson on Mat and Reformer. (I left that lesson feeling ten times better and two inches taller than I had when I walked in. I was hooked!)

Mary Tramonte
Hometown - Sharon Center, Ohio
Astrological Sign - Sagittarius
Why Pilates - Pilates is about bringing together the body, mind and spirit, which I believe is a great foundation for the other area's of our lives. But it is also fun, rejuvenating and a good workout.
Favorite Pilates exercise & why - Lunges on the Chair because after 10 reps on each leg from the front and then 10 reps on each side you feel super strong but still graceful.
Who/what inspires you - Finishing my Pilates teacher training.
Describe your teaching style - Still under construction, but I want to teach my clients how to use Pilates to better themselves, whether they are looking for stress relief, exercise, rehabilitation or just for fun.
First Pilates experience - My mom bought me a Denise Austin Pilates VCR tape about 10 years ago... sometimes I can still hear Denise's voice in my head!

I want to take a Reformer class. What should I do?

Reformer classes are great for people of all ages and levels. We offer Intro Reformer and Reformer level 1 -2 for beginners.

If you have taken private Reformer lessons with an Inspiral Motion teacher, simply talk to your instructor and she will let you know which level is appropriate for you. If you have used the Reformer at another studio, you must schedule at least one private lesson at Inspiral Motion so we can assess your level or take a level 1-2 class only. If you are new to the Reformer, we recommend that you take our introductory Reformer package (three private lessons for $180) with a certified teacher. OR sign up for an Introduction to Reformer 5 week class - this will get you started if you can't do the Private Lessons.

What is the cancellation policy?

We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation on all of your class reservations, your session reservations and your private appointments. Everything requires a 24-hour notice of cancellation, minimum.

Cancellation allows you to make up your missed class in another class before your package or session ends. Cancellation may be via the phone, email to cancel@inspiralmotion.com or by using the online software.

As an incentive to our online users, you may cancel a mat class or a reservation in a mat session if you cancel using the software within 10 hours of the class. Email does not count - you must do it on your own using the software program. This incentive creates less administrative work for us and is well worth the offer!

Regardless of how you cancel, if you do it on time, you may make up your class in any another class during the session dates, provided that there is an opening for you. Inspiral Motion cannot guarantee the availability of any class opening, nor can we guarantee that there will be an opening during the time frame in which you must make up your class. In this situation, the missed class will be forfeited. Sorry, no exceptions.
