Pilates at Inspiral Motion is Classical Pilates, and infused with experienced-based knowledge in alignment, anatomy, movement kinetics, health and wellness.

All of our instructors come from PMA recognized Classical Pilates schools. Most of us come from Core Dynamics Pilates® which is directed by Pilates Master Teacher, Michele Larsson. All of us have a minimum of 450 apprentice hours, and some of us have many more.

We work with you on the mat, on the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and we use other, peripheral equipment. To get information on our Reformer Classes click here.

The 3 primary pieces of pilates equipment include the Reformer, the Cadillac and the Chair. There are other smaller pieces of equipment, but these 3 are described here.

Pilates Reformer
The Reformer is one of the primary pieces of equipment used in the practice of Pilates. Fashioned after a single-sized bed frame, it consists of a moving carriage whose tension and resistance is controlled by springs. The springs can be used to increase or decrease resistance, depending on the exercise and strength of the client. There are over 100 exercises which can be performed on the Pilates Reformer.

Pilates Cadillac
The Cadillac is made up of a raised, padded table with four posts at each corner to which springs, straps and bars are attached. Much like the Reformer, the Cadillac uses springs with varying resistance to increase strength and stability in the student. The Cadillac enables teachers to slowly introduce new concepts to students safely and it is often the piece of equipment we use to "help" students achieve new exercises.

Pilates Chair
The Pilates Chair is a smaller piece of equipment and is modeled after a standard sitting chair. The Pilates Chair consists of a foot plate, which is connected to springs. There are various types of exercises which can be performed on the Chair, including arm work, leg work and abdominal strengthening. The Chair is the "manly man" piece of Pilates equipment. It develops strength and a Chair workout is one of the most difficult you will encounter.
