Become a Teacher

How does one become a GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® teacher?

First, read the GYROTONIC® or GYROKINESIS® certification curriculum on the GYROTONIC® web site.  www.gyrotonic.com

Second, call the studio and set up a one hour appointment with Master Trainer Lisa Lansing, or ANY of the Inspiral Teachers. 216.320.9446. Please do not contact the studio until you have read the certification curriculum on the GYROTONIC® web site.

Get experience. Take private or group GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® classes to gain some experience.  You will need to have at least 15 hours of exposure before you begin teacher training, but we prefer that you have more.

Steps to Certification

Pre-Training

Enroll in a Pre-Training Course with an Authorized Pre-Trainer. A prerequisite of Pre-Training is exposure to the system.  This is a 6 day course. Participants work 4 to 6 hours a day, 20 - 30 hours of training, depending upon how many people are in the course.

Foundation Training

Enroll in a Foundation Training Course with a Master Trainer. GYROTONIC® Foundation work lasts 12 days; GYROKINESIS® Foundation work is 9 days: 4 to 6 hours daily. Some courses run over 4 consecutive weekends, while other courses run over the course of two weeks.  These courses contain the essential foundation material that enables students to teach well.

Successful completion warrants the title and position of "Certified Apprentice."  Begin teaching.  To do this you will need access to a machine for the GYROTONIC® certification process.  You can generally rent machines if you don't have one of your own.

The GYROTONIC® course can be split into two separate weekends. If that is the case, students only need 20 hours of teaching before the first weekend, 20 more hours of teaching before the second weekend, and 20 hours after the second weekend. Each weekend is $350 base fee + Studio Fees.  Either way, continue teaching after this course.

Final Certification

Enroll in the Certification Course in Miami Beach. This course is 3 days long, working 4 - 6 hours a day.

Ongoing Education and License Fees

Every two years the leaching license expires.  Instructors must satisfy an educational requirement in order to renew the teaching license.  Educational courses are usually 3 days long and cost the same as final certification.  License Fees are not included in the educational fee.  First you pay the educational fee to the Master Trainer and learn new material.  After that, you pay the license renewal fee of $100 to GYROTONIC® Headquarters.  Educational courses must be taken within 1 year of your license expiration.
