According to the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, "Carpe diem," a Latin Aphorism, was made popular by the poet Horace in 23 BC and typically translates to "seize the day!" There is evidence, however, that this idea is found in literature prior to Horace and that for many centuries humans have understood and celebrated this concept.
Make hay while the sun shines.
Enjoy the present.
Now is the only thing that is real.
Strike while the iron is hot.
The early bird catches the worm.
Gather ye rosebuds, while ye may, old time is still a-flying.
This holiday season, I hope will you will join all of us at Inspiral in making every moment full. Enjoy the smallness of a kitchen mishap or spilled food on the carpet. Hug and kiss your family and friends, again and again. Enjoy the giving of gifts and the excitement of receiving. Enjoy that small red cardinal when it lands on the limb of the neighbor's cherry blossom tree. Celebrate the small things, because you may discover they were the big things. Life is now.
This tangent takes me to Jill Shemory who has been healing nicely from her initial surgery a few weeks ago. So many of you have been eager to hear about how she is doing. Well, she's been seizing the day with her family, making every day count. She's also getting out and about from time to time! Sarah took Jill out for a mani/pedi last week - here's the photo!
Chemotherapy begins December 29, 2015. This will be a tough time for the family, and as everyone knows, Chemo is not fun.
Please seize the day and send Jill a note of love, drop off some flowers for Jill at the studio (Sarah will take them to her), sign up for food delivery or donate to our Vitamix Fund. Phase 1 was a success; Phase 2 begins next week.
We have started a fund to purchase Jill a Vitamix (a local Ohio company!) to help her during Chemo. If you would like to contribute, please submit your donation to our Inspiral PayPal account. email@example.com
You can also send a check to the studio (please note Jill's Vitamix Fund):
20620 John Carroll Blvd, Suite 204
Shaker Heights, OH 44118
Thank you to everyone who has inquired about Jill, signed up for meals, and sent a note. Thank you so much for creating community of loving, supportive people who are coming together to help this family on their journey toward healing. Thank you.
Sending everyone holiday cheer! I hope your weeks are filled with laughter, love and hay making!
With appreciation and affection,
